The text 'Home of the Heels' is prominently displayed in bold lettering, with 'Carolina Housing' written below in a smaller font, all set against a light blue background.Carolina Housing’s “Home of the Heels” logo, hand-drawn by team alumna Rilee Knott, recently earned 1st Place in the Logo/Mark/Icon category at the Association of College & University Housing Officers – International (ACUHO-I) Marketing Awards in Bethesda, Maryland.

“Winning an award on such a prominent stage among higher education marketing peers is both humbling and incredibly motivating,” said Matt Bertram, assistant director of marketing. Carolina Housing’s creative team functions as a full-service agency within the department, producing materials that assist and support its initiatives and partnerships across the University. This award, Bertram says, “validates our dedication to creativity and collaboration within the Carolina community.”

The “Home of the Heels” logo aims to capture the essence of campus life, blending elements of Carolina’s rich history, iconic landmarks, and vibrant culture into a cohesive visual. “UNC-Chapel Hill is a truly special place, rich in history, beauty, and iconic landmarks, so translating all of that into a single design was a welcomed challenge,” said Bertram. Since its introduction, the logo has become a visual anchor for Carolina Housing’s identity, strongly resonating with students and providing them with an emblem of their college experience.
